Shxw’ōwhámél First Nation requires the services of a Lands Assistant to work under the supervision of the Band Administrator.The Lands Assistant will have the opportunity to expand their capacity in the field of Lands Management. The Lands Assistant will provide support on the development of the Lands Department. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Coordinating Meetings and Workshops, Minute Taking, maintaining database filing and web based research, Developing Land Policies.
Duties & Qualifications Include:
 Reports to the Lands & Resources Manager.
 Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
 Experience with Google Earth, GIS, GPS and other mapping software an asset.
 Demonstrate strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task in a dynamic working environment.
 Ability to be both a team player yet work well independently with little or no supervision.
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proven ability to establish rapport with all educational and occupational backgrounds.
 Be willing to attend training workshops.
 Must be willing to provide and Criminal Record Check.
Education & Experience:
 Minimum Grade 12 education
 Post-Secondary certification/diploma/degree or equivalent experience in a pertinent field and asset
 Training and experience in administrative/clerical duties.
 Basic knowledge and experience in Bookkeeping & Proposal Writing.
 Strong written and verbal communication.
 Good Networking skills.
 Valid BC Driver’s License or willing to obtain.
Duration of Position: Full-Time Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage: Commensurate on experience
Start Date: April 19, 2017
