New Digital Billboards to Arrive in Early Spring
Seyem’ Qwantlen Business Group to install new state of the art digital billboards along Highway 7.
February 23, 2017 (Fort Langley, BC)
Seyem’ Qwantlen Business Group (SQBG), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Kwantlen First Nation, has commenced work on the installation of two digital billboard systems situated within the borders of Maple Ridge. One will be located on Kwantlen’s IR5 site, just east of Albion neighbourhood, with the second being installed on IR3 site adjacent to Silvermere Lake, east of Whonnock neighbourhood. Both billboards will be visible to eastbound and westbound traffic on Highway 7.
The new digital billboards feature energy efficient 10’ by 20’ LED displays. The strategy is to sell advertising space to local businesses in the area, and Pictographic Creative, an SQBG company, will design and deliver ad content in addition to managing ongoing sales. Another of SQBG’s companies, Coast Salish Technologies will be responsible for ongoing technical and hardware support.
“Seyem’ Qwantlen is thrilled to be launching this new business venture and are excited to enter the digital media realm of advertising. These two sites will be our first locations for the business group and we fully expect to expand to more in the future.
So far, we’ve received a positive response from the Kwantlen membership, other nations, our business partners and neighboring communities. The opportunity will allow us to create economic wealth and create jobs for our nation. We are very proud to be the owner and operator of the digital billboards and look forward to serving our customers”, says SQBG Vice-President Brenda Fernie.
The billboards are expected to go live by the end of March. These will replace all existing static billboards currently situated on Kwantlen Reserve Land.
